Laney supergroup head.. Garage find!

Postby Tpbiker » Tue May 30, 2017 9:03 pm

Just started playing again after 20 years

Anyway.. Digging around my folks garage for some old guitar bits at the weekend and stumbled across an old laney head that hasn't been used in years and is no longer working. Was going to bin it, but a quick Google tells me it's actually quite desirable.

It's an old laney supergroup series mk1 100 watt head from around 1970. It's really scruffy and would need a complete overall including valves

Worth doing?

Her you go, fresh from 20 years in the garage..so still covered in dust. Looked like a piece of junk only fit for the bin!

Its missing the name plate at the front, but its definitly a supergroup, says so on the back! Pic with and without the rear cover.

Hey Tpbiker :D
You find a treasure. If I had one like this I would restore it. There is not that much Supergroups left out here. There is a source for original parts. http://www.majelectronics.com .For shure they are others with parts for Supergroup. Mercury Magnetics has oryginal Partridge power and output transformers. You lucky :D

Thanks fella, I had no idea..it looked like a piece of junk to me!! I can't even rember where I got it, I think from a mate who was moving to the US and throwing it out!

I'm going to take it to a guy and see if he can fix it up. After that may keep or sell..either way it useful to know its worth something!

Hey Tpbiker :D
Have you start restoration of your Supergroup ? Just wonder. There is not that much of these amps left . If you will restore it please post some pictures so the younger generation of Laney fans will learn how this everything started :D
Good luck and Cheers
