Laney LC15R line out with speaker muted?

Postby oreth » Fri Jun 02, 2017 10:08 am

Is there any way I can use the line-out on my Laney LC15R with the speaker muted?

I'd like to be able to record the line-out signal while the amp is silent. I have tried just plugging a cable/adapter into the the speaker-out socket to mute the amp speaker (and this works), but apparently doing this can damage the amp it needs to have a speaker load?

If that's the case, is there any other way I can do it without spending a load of money on some new piece of equipment?

Thanks for any advice.

Google dummy loads. Build or buy power rated resistors in a can. No sound but will give the output stage the resistance to live without speaker. Or build an isolation box for the speaker.
