Laney Supergroup MKI AC fuse for US 120VAC.

Postby HAL9000 » Tue Mar 05, 2013 9:49 pm

Hello,
Just received a Laney Supergroup MKI 100 watt head from the UK. I am refurbishing it, but it is in good shape for it's age.

I have the input AC voltage selector set for 110VAC for US power. I am thinking about running it with a Variac to lower my voltage as it normally runs about 126VAC. Will be reforming the power supply caps with the Variac at the input to make sure the caps are not overheating for any reason.

The question is what size and style of fuse should be used? The schematic says a 2Amp fuse for the 230VAC setting. Dropping it to 110VAC would be 4.2Amps. Is the style used a Slow Blow 4Amp fuse?

I have a while, as I am waiting on the Bulgin MBBREP style replacement IEC connector to replace the original Bulgin round three pin mains connector.

Any info would be helpful on the AC input fuse.

Looked at the Laney GH100TI head manual and will use a 5 Amp, 250VAC rated Slow Blow fuse with the Supergroup MKI 100 watt head.

Best info I could find that is close.
