Cool to see that... Gotta love that customized strat with the "swiss cheese" modifications! I would have thought that would kill the tone of any guitar, but I have always like his sound in the airplay version of this song... and seeing them play it live (well, live in '72) is pretty close to the same guitar sound.
Interesting also the lack of racks, footpedals, minimal drumkit etc. Straight ahead sound.

Yeah Russ Ballard's godawful looking swiss cheese strat! Funny, you'll see guys with these awesome guitars back in the day (Roye Albrighton's modded white '65 Sheraton comes to mind) then they're not playing them anymore and there's some sad story as to what happened to them. But not the case here, Russ's still got that hideous thing! I'll never forgive myself for missing the Buy It Now for a Supergroup used by Argent; in that very video. It ended about 3 weeks ago and the price was reasonable, and the guy was local!!!! :(
