LC 15 R, noisy pots and a minor mod...

Hi,

This is my first post here, I've had an LC15 for about a year, great little amp I bought as a stand in while my Dr.Z Carmen Ghia was down with a bad resistor due to a faulty speaker cable. Anyways, the two amps are very different to say the least. Form what I read it's one of the newer models with the speaker extension jack, effects loop (never used it).

I'll get right down to it, the problems first:
1. Noisy patchy botchy pots, specially the drive pot, hope you know what I mean, dropouts, etc, getting a steady tone is sometimes like threading a needle.
2. The reverb is rubbish, sometimes I can't tell if it's on or off at lower volumes, where it's also muddy which is probably due the the next point.
3. The celestion 10" Speaker is rather dark but I'm not changing it for now, probably a good balance with single coils which what I almost always play.

Changes I've made:
Upgraded the tubes, NOS preamps and PI, powertubes are GT#4. I've tried all kinds of NOS tube on this thing,
though the amp really responded to preamp NOS tubes for most bang for the buck.

Changes I want to make:
1. Upgrade the pots, they're like shoddy mexi strat pots begging for upgrades. What brand and rating do you guys recommend?
2. I want to use the 10" combo form factor it has also as an extension cab to my Ghia head, in which case I will consider the next point. Dont always feel like lugging my 2x12 cab, besides this thing does a high gain tone the ghia's not suited to without help. Can I do this without opening it up?
3. Upgrade to a 10" Red Fang or something on those lines. Same speaker the docs using in his monza. What have you guys tried so far?
4. Possibly will look into an OT upgrade. What are some of the better options out there? Does the amp's tone really respond to the upgrade? Is it worth the trouble?
5. Anything else I should consider? Dont think I need a standby switch or mess with anything I don't need to on the PCB.

Cheers & thanks,
