the rather wonderful High on Fire- Laney VH100R in the background! Matt's a long term Laney user who clearly knows his shit when it comes to amps!

So, that was supposed to be music, right?

Well, each to their own I suppose - but if all you want is to crank up an amp so to get as much distortion as humanly possible and make a horrible tuneless racket like that, then for me that's just a complete & utter waste of a good all-valve amp like a Laney! You may as well just use any old modelling amp like a Line 6 HD147! (which at least Evanescence used fairly tunefully!).

the warpig sounds awesome in the SG- lovely cleans but really beefy on the dirt channel!

I really like HOF, their first three albums where awesome, and while I think mr Pike has got awesome guitar sounds, the last two albums where kind of a let down for me, just musically not my cup of tea...

Anyways I saw these photos years ago on stonerrock forums, so why not share it ;)

Notice the resonance switch off and fair amount of mids - this is the ticket, with loads of volume to give those EL34 space to roar...

1. it's not possible to get a sound like that with a modelling amp...
2. you don't like black sabbath, sleep or motörhead, do you?
