Scott, if you want to tighten up your tone, I thoroughly recommend a BBE Sonic Stomp Maximiser (the foot-pedal version).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yyPbJq5O3MIt's not an EQ. Guitar speakers struggle to process the full range of frequencies thrown at them, and they end up trying to process highs, mids & lows all at the same time. This means that they're not as efficient as they should be. The BBE Sonic Maximiser fractionally alters when different frequencies reach the speaker, thus enabling it to process the frequencies more accurately. This gives a clearer, punchier tone that helps to tighten up the bottom end, enhances the mids & the highs. In a live mix, this helps you punch through with greater clarity and at lower volume.
